By Aussie Lass. DISCLAIMER : I do not own any of the characters. "The Magnificent Seven" belong to MGM and Trilogy Entertainment. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I’d be a happy woman if Vin belonged to me.....but no such luck. I have not made any profit out of writing this, so please don’t sue me. It would not be worth your while.
Author Comment: This poem (0f sorts) is in response to the Vin Tanner Fanfic and Discussion Group March Challenge Fic - Lost. On That Day, in a Small Western Town a man who had lost his reason for living, as opposed to existing, wandered into Four Corners without purpose. He was a man of great personal strength but this strength had been drained considerably by the grief that consumed his every waking moment. On that day, in a small western town, a man who had lost his right to freedom through the actions of others, swept a porch, hiding his ability and torment behind an apron. Life had not treated him fairly, though he remained a fair man. Now his days were spent looking over his shoulder waiting for the moment when the faceless would come to lead him to the hangman’s noose. On that day, in a small western town, a man lost the battle for acceptance and liberty as the merciless judged him on the colour of his skin and not on the man he was. A healer by way and by nature he sought only to help his fellow man. Years of struggling to find his place in the world appeared shattered by a lynch mob the likes of which had ended the dreams of so many just like him. On that day, in a small western town, a man who had lost the friendship of someone he loved like a brother entertained himself in the arms of yet another woman of the moment. His wide smile and bright eyes hid his loss but did not fill the hole in his heart. Now he wandered the trails aimlessly, apparently content to live day to day without purpose or thought of where the next hours would take him. On that day, in a small western town, a man who had lost his reason for staying, ran away to the dusty streets and lawlessness of an unforgiving west. Full of innocent zeal and recklessness fed by inner pain, he longed to find the adventure he believed would help him both remember and forget and provide his young life with direction and meaning. On that day, in a small western town, a man who had lost faith in himself but not in his Lord, found himself alone in self-imposed exile. Unsure of the path God wanted him to take, he waited impatiently, paying his penitence in solitude, praying for a sign that would reveal his Lord’s ultimate plan and absolve him of the sins he had performed in this merciless world. On that day, in a small western town, a man who had lost respect for the world and for himself, succumbed to his need to prove himself by accumulating wealth. In error, he believed that bettering others and winning made him a success… but success was a lonely business and the path he had chosen hid his true character which he protected by burying it deep. On that day, in a small western town, seven different men who had lost so much, found in one another all that they had been searching for. A legend was born, trust cemented and a unique brotherhood formed. Each of their lives would be changed forever… because of that day, in a small western town.
